The WLBK Annual Honey Show
The purpose of a honey show is to have honey and other hive products such as wax and mead assessed by an expert judge. The feedback received helps us maintain the quality standards of our hive products. There are awards for all classes.
The four principal awards are the Thorp Cup for the best overall show results, the Nancy Wilshire Rosebowl for the best honey cake, the Jack Taylor Plaque for the best honey in the cottager class and, from 2011, the Bernard Collins Trophy for the best entry in the show. In 2015 a new award was introduced: the Novice Mazer for the highest placed entrant in the novice class.
We recommend that you read the Honey Show Guidance notes (kindly compiled by Nigel Coad) before entering the Honey Show. These notes are specially aimed at those with limited show experience.
